Overview

THIS POSITION IS NOT REMOTE

The 3B Medical Surgical Unit is now part of the Virtually Integrated Care model.  Benefits of Virtually Integrated Care (VIC) for Clinical Staff Members are outlined below:
Saint Joseph Hospital has introduced a new way of providing care. The “Game Changers” on 3B are working with the team at CommonSpirit Health to bring Virtually Integrated Care to Saint
Joseph.

The new model consists of a team with a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse and an advanced patient care technician as well as a virtual RN.With this new model, nursing managers and clinical caregivers will have additional support 24/7 with the leadership of the Virtually Integrated Care RN.The VIC RN can intervene in situations to avoid the need for service recovery, decreasing the need for nurse managers to be pulled into a situation. The VIC RN also can listen to the patient and/or family to address any concerns when it does become a service recovery issue.Nursing managers who have been involved in similar virtual care programs have reported increased job satisfaction. The increase in patient/family satisfaction has cut the amount of time nursing managers have had to devote to interacting with upset patients and family members. The virtual RN also can assist nursing managers when IRIS reports are being reviewed, and also to follow up for failed plan of care achievement and other situations.Virtual RNs can also function as a peer evaluation for new nurses freshly off orientation, allowing them to share with leaders and educators what the novice nurse is doing well and also where they could use support. The virtual RN serves as the immediate bedside leader and support for the team; the nursing manager and director team retains decision-making and overall leadership of the unit. This new nursing model will elevate the nursing manager role by directly leading a skilled team focused on patient and peer satisfaction, quality, safety and continual problem-solving when barriers arise.
