RN Assistant Manager Inpatient Services - Lobdell Center for Mental Health & Wellness

Job Summary:

Assisting the Director with the management of the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, including staff management, staff education and evaluation. Assists with the overall direction of the Unit, as well as the development of division goals and objectives. Maintains effective interfaces within all other hospital divisions, various agencies, and the community.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Assists with review, revision and development of policy and procedure. Assists with implementation and monitoring of TJC, DOH, OMH and other regulatory standards. Assists with the development, implementation and evaluation of the department Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Competency Program. Assist with development, implementation and evaluation of the department Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement and Competency program. Assist with unit organization, including physical setting and materials management, for cost effectiveness in all aspects of patient care and unit management. Assist Director through input for departmental goal setting, long range planning and early budgeting process. Prepare staffing schedule accurately and fairly, assuring proper coverage, in a cost-effective manner as assigned. Assist in problem solving, including delivery of patient care and using the proper chain of command. Serve on committees as assigned, attend meetings in Director’s absence, and communicate information as appropriate. Assist Director with supervision of staff, coaching and issuing disciplinary action as needed. Assist with creating and monitoring staff education activities including AHA requirements. Projects and duties as assigned by Department Director. Serve as a model for the hospital and departmental code of conduct, evidence-based practice, and policy & procedure. Prepare reports, documents and provides data as requested. Maintains confidentiality in all patient, hospital, employee, and physician information. Works cooperatively with members of the Clinical team to accomplish individual, departmental and organizational goals. Will become a TRUST Trainer within 1 year of holding the position. Assist with Orientation Program for new staff. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific):

Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Professionalism and business acumen appropriate for working with guests, clients, physicians, and employees. Proactive and independent, with the ability to take initiative and seek out work during free time.

Education and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. Minimum of four years’ experience in nursing with demonstrated clinical experience. Participates in continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Working Conditions:

Extended periods of sitting, using standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computers, phones, scanners, fax machines, printers, etc. Occasionally requires assembling, using and maintaining all departmental equipment. Occasionally requires prolonged periods of standing and walking with the ability to lift, push or pull up to 15 lbs. using proper body mechanics. Attendance ensures that job requirements are met. Actively participates in Quality Assurance programs and CQI, in-service programs, cross-training; completes department specific requirements/competencies; attends all mandatory classes as required; participates in meetings and committees as assigned. Complies with DOH requirements for annual health assessments and required immunizations

Pay Range: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00/annual

Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
