The Glenhome School & Transition Program
For over 50 years -- The Glenholme School, part of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, has provided a comprehensive residential program and services for children with learning differences and special needs. Located in picturesque Washington, CT the Overnight Bilingual Registered Nurse will be part of a cohesive, passionate and dynamic team. The selected candidate will foster Devereux’s mission and values of quality care as well as providing top-notch and individualized therapeutic care for our students.
UCS Program
In response to the humanitarian crisis at America’s ports of entry, Devereux provides short-term shelter care services for unaccompanied children who have come to the United States without a parent or legal guardian. Devereux provides extremely high-quality, trauma-informed residential and educational services for unaccompanied children, with support for their social and emotional health. We also ensure they receive excellent and immediate physical healthcare including pediatric, dental and nutritional supports for every child.
Devereux’s ultimate goal is to ensure every unaccompanied child who receives our services is successfully and quickly discharged into the loving care of their family sponsor. During the short time they are with us, we ensure they have received best-in-class medical, therapeutic, recreational and educational services designed specifically to address the traumas they have sustained during, and often before, their migration journey. This is a very high benchmark to set, but we have already begun partnering with leading legal defense nonprofits to ensure children in our care have access to the finest immigration advocates and support our country offers.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
The Overnight Registered Nurse (RN) ensures that the individuals’ health care needs are addressed by conducting an initial nursing assessment, administering medication, and triaging medical needs on a daily basis. Additionally, provide a nursing assessment within 24 hours prior to the individuals’ discharge.
Examine students with medical/physical complaints. Administer first aid and medical treatments, as needed. Refer students with illness/injuries to physician for further treatment. Assist with physical examinations, as needed. Implement physician’s prescriptions for medication and treatments. Pull and administer medication to students. Communicate medication changes, treatments, and observations to appropriate staff. Communicate medical information on all students to all outside medical professional, parents and agencies, as required Coordinate student’s medical appointments with outside medical professionals. May coordinate scheduling of student appointments with consulting physicians (medical doctor and psychiatrist) in absence of medical coordinator. May be required to attend Clinical and Treatment Team meetings. Maintain medical records of students including medical history, drug reactions, allergies, prescribed medications, immunizations, etc. May be required to develop Medical Treatment plan for students. Plan and implement in conjunction with medical colleagues, program coordinators and training facilitators standards, objectives, and procedures of student’s health programs. Provide guidance and assistance to students with medically related issues or problems. May be required to attend student enrollments to review medical history, current medications, and insurance information. May be required to assist in staff in-service training in emergency medical procedures, use of medical equipment, and any special medical circumstances, as necessary. Maintain records of medical supplies and equipment, such as nightly checks of Glucometer, refrigerator temperature of Order or replace as needed or required. Ensure cleanliness, safety, and security of Medical Department. Meet with state or agency officials, as required, for licensing or inspections. Schedule and coordinate laboratory work, as directed. Prepare and periodically check First Aid Kits. Assist in orientation of new staff as requested. Adhere to Devereux grooming and dress standards. Ensure confidentiality regarding student information.

QualificationsThe IDEAL candidate will...
• Completion of accredited RN program
• Have a current and valid RN license in the state of practice
• Have at least one year of relevant experience in the field of nursing, particularly with children and youth
• Be bilingual (English/Spanish) **preferred but not required**
• Have a valid driver's license and minimum 21 years of age
• Be empathetic and have a team approach to care for our individuals
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor
• Be able to lift up to 50+ pounds and perform Safe and Positive Approaches
