The Charge Nurse is accountable for the patient care delivered during the assigned shift. This position supervises, evaluates and schedules unit personnel on the shift assigned. The Charge Nurse collaborates with the Director to resolve personnel, patient, and unit issues and mentors and develops the unit/shift team.

Education required: Graduate of Accredited School of Nursing

Education preferred: BSN

License, Certification and/or Registration: Current Alabama Nursing Licensure; BCLS required by the end of the orientation period; ACLS required

Experience: Recent hospital RN experience in which leadership, interpersonal, and problem solving qualities have been demonstrated

Additional Skills/Abilities: Knowledgeable of clinical practice of the specialty.
