Abiding by the Mission & Values, the Clinical Nurse Educator I (CNE I)  provides professional development and education services in the clinical setting by assisting nurses in preparing for contemporary clinical practice and supporting them in acquiring the knowledge and skills so that they can competently collect patient health data, analyze the data to determine nursing diagnoses, identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient, develop a plan of care that prescribes interventions to attain the expected outcome.  SPHP practices theory based nursing that is evidenced based utilizing a shared governance model for decision –making.

Requirements:

Bachelors degree in nursingCurrent NYS RN licenseBLS2-5 years clinical experience

Responsibilities:

Involves learners and key stakeholders in learning needs assessment, formulating expected learner outcomes, establishment of the educational plan, and evaluation of the effectiveness of the education plan.Uses adult learning concepts and instructional design principles when planning an activity.Employs strategies to facilitate positive learning and practice environments. Uses various educational strategies to meet the needs of learners. Educational activities are organized and demonstrate respect for and inclusion of diverse learners.Designs educational programs to promote critical thinking and critical reasoning skills.Conducts initial and ongoing assessment of competence of nursing personnel.Highlights the benefits of and opportunities for life-long learning.Demonstrates skillful use of technology to enhance the teaching-learning process.Shows enthusiasm for teaching, learning, and nursing that inspires and motivates nurses.Provides timely, constructive, and thoughtful feedback to the learner.Evaluates educational activities on an ongoing basis including participant feedback and attainment of learner outcomes.  Disseminates the evaluation results.Maintains required documentation of all educational programming in accordance with organizational requirementsWorks with others to identify problems and solutions.Uses an evidence-based approach to facilitate the initiation of, adoption of, and adaptation to change.Applies improvement processes (e.g. Lean thinking) to effect practice change.Exhibits creativity and flexibility through times of change.Serves as a resource by assisting nurses in identifying problems, identifying available internal and external resources, and selecting options.Fosters ongoing professional growth experiences for nurses and others.Provides guidance and support to nursing personnel involved in new hire/transitional orientation programsParticipates in organizational committees and/or shared governance councils.Practices skilled oral and written communication that reflects an awareness of self and others, along with an ability to convey ideas in a variety of contexts.Establishes collegial working relationships with nursing staff, nursing leaders, clinical nurse specialists, and other disciplines to promote positive patient outcomes and professional nursing practice.Integrates ethics in all areas of practice.  Monitors the integrity of educational activities including screening for potential or actual unethical behavior, commercial bias, compromise of intellectual property rights, or conflict of interest. Identifies and addresses ethical issues within the learning and practice environment.Implements program and project plans.Participates in quality initiatives.Disseminates research findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities.Uses the best available evidence to guide practice decisions.Supports the integration of research into practice and develops staff members’ knowledge and skills in the research process

Pay range: $38.70-$52.10

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location
