RN-Clinical Research Nurse Pool

Summary\:

The RN-Staff Nurse, in the Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s Department of Neurology, will assist in delivering high-quality, efficient medical care to an adult patient population in the ALS-Neuromuscular Program in an outpatient setting. The incumbent will be responsible for day-to-day activities surrounding clinical research studies and ensure compliance with federal, state and university regulations.

 

Essential Functions\:

Responsibilities include\: providing and/or coordinating timely direct and indirect patient care services in a multidisciplinary setting; conducting comprehensive nursing assessments; obtaining patient history and vital signs; administering injections, blood draws, IVs and medications; maintaining records of vital statistics, and other pertinent patient data in the EMR system; appropriately fielding/triaging patient telephone calls regarding medication changes, clinical status, prescription renewals, changes in condition etc.; providing individual assistance to patients, families and caregivers to help identify and overcome barriers which may hinder quality medical patient care; educating and counseling patients and families; keeping assigned patient logs up to date including infusions; and obtaining required pre-cert or prior authorization to assure the timely approvals of patients complex treatments and drugs. In addition, the incumbent will coordinate with the Clinical Research Nurse to facilitate the recruitment, screening and enrollment of patients for clinical trials. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience\:

Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of PA. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

Required Skills & Abilities\:

*Demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and nursing competence.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary team. 
*Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
*Demonstrated ability to use an electronic medical record system.
*Proven organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
*Ability to operate all standard office equipment and software including MS Office. 

 

Preferred\:

*Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
*Experience working with patients with neurological or related disorders.
