Duties:

•  The ICU is a multidisciplinary unit that provides care for neurological, neuro-surgical, medical, surgical, pulmonary, cardiology, cardiothoracic, and trauma patients. 
•  Various types of technology are used to care for and treat critical care patients. 
•  This technology includes, but is not limited to,ventilators,entriculostomies, cardiac monitors, pulmonary artery catheters, arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines, IABP, ECMO/tandem heart, Impella, BIS monitors, continuous pulse oximetry, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), gastric tubes, and intravenous infusion pumps.
•  Fulfills the needs of the patients, families and community by performing a variety of patient care functions and tasks in accordance with his/her licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements.

Skills:

•  NIHSS, BLS & ACLS – Required
•  Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state/district – Required
•  ICU Experience – Required: 3 Years

Education:

•  Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program – Required
•  BSN – Highly desired

The Critical Care Registered Nurse assumes responsibilityand accountability for the application of the nursing process and the deliveryof patient care in a variety of critical care settings. Consistently performsaccording to nursing standards and is accountable in managing patient care andassisting others in the management of patient care. Responsibilities includemonitoring, assessment, vital sign monitoring, ventilator management,medication administration, intravenous insertion and infusion, central linecare, catheters, and maintenance of a running record of the patient’s status.The Critical Care RN must be prepared at all times to perform cardiopulmonaryresuscitation and other lifesaving measures for the patients in their care.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement andevaluate patient care Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient’s condition Collects, documents, analyzes, and interprets data and otherinformation from healthcare team members Communicates nursing interventions, expected outcomes andthe time frames for expected completion to other members of the hospital healthcare team Functions as a resource to the health care team members inplanning for patient’s discharge Documents the patient’s plan of care using identifiednursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursinginterventions Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education Compares expected and actual outcomes of care and identifiesdeviation from the plan of care Adheres to facility/client policies, procedures andprotocols at all times Performs other duties as assigned/necessary

               

Minimum Requirements: 

CurrentRegistered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices One year of critical care experience is preferred Minimum of one year acute or critical care experiencepreferred Current BLS card; current ACLS/PALS card (per facilityrequirement) Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice  Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable  Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)  Must meet all federal, state and local requirements  Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site  Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements   Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers,clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English languageis required   Computer proficiency required  Must be at least 18 years of age
