RN Diabetes Education Coordnator
Overview In collaboration with the multidisciplinary diabetes management team, provides diabetes education to patients and families, as well as oversees the program to meet its requirements for ADA recognition. This nurse will assist with oversight of all activity at the clinic and provide necessary information to staff at the direction of the Director or Manger, as needed in addition their responsibilities as a Diabetes Nurse Educator/Coordinator. Performs other duties as assigned. Janesville WI 80 Hours/2 Weeks Monday-Friday, Day Shift Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs duties of a Diabetes Nurse Educator as outlined in the Diabetes Nurse Educator Job Summary. In addition, oversees the initiation and maintenance of programs handling all phases of outpatient diabetes education in order to meet American Diabetes Association recognition guidelines. This includes performance improvement activities in clinical development and efficiency. Oversees ongoing clinic/system development to include policies and procedures and quality initiatives as they relate to diabetes care. Acts as a resource to staff outpatient education program/materials development and on patient education issues or problems. Acts as a contact for Administration to disperse information to clinic staff. Provides feedback for evaluation of other clinic personnel. Assists with preparation of staff for surveys. Monitors compliance with clinic initiatives such as JCAHJO and Baldrige. Insures availability of necessary clinic supplies. Is flexible to work alternate shifts if required. Assists with departmental purchases and assists with clinic budget preparation and maintenance. Insures all clinic reporting is done appropriately. Education and Experience Graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN or upon hire BSN completion agreement for enrollment in an accredited BSN Completion Program May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines). Certification/Licensure Licensed as an RN in state of practice Approved BLS certification required within 90 days (Other certification per unit requirements: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP) Special Physical Demands The Special Physical Demands are considered Essential Job Functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
