RN - Education Coordinator Urgent Care
GENERAL SUMMARY The Registered Nurse (RN) - Education Coordinator Urgent Care works collaboratively with the management team and division education department in identifying educational and/or learning needs of the assigned area(s). This position facilitates and evaluates educational programs in support of professional growth, maintaining competence and compliance with regulatory & policy changes. Reports to department leadership. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES + Instructs and facilitates educational opportunities for employees. + Maintains and ensures appropriate documentation for learning episodes or educational processes. + Assists in the orientation process and program for staff, including assisting during scheduled shifts on the floor with staff. + Continuously evaluates and modifies educational processes to meet the needs of the learner and organization. + Utilizes the principles of adult learning, cultural diversity, and individual learning styles in planning educational opportunities. + Plans, provides, and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice. + Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population. + Assists in covering staffing needs in clinic when necessary. + Rotates weekend and holiday call with the managers. + Performs all other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS + Required Licenses and/or Certifications + Registered Nursing License in the State of Virginia or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license required at time of hire. + Must provide record of a licensure at the time of hire. + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLs) training is required at time of hire or must be obtained within 12 months of hire. + Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) designation is required at time of hire or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. + Basic Life Support (BLS), Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) instructor status is required at time of hire or must be obtained within 12 months of hire. + Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) trainer status is required at time of hire or must be obtained within 12 months of hire. + Preferred Licenses and/or Certifications + Registered Nursing specialty certification preferred. + Must provide record of a certification at the time of hire. MINIMUM AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS + Required Education and Experience + Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required at time hire or actively enrolled in a BSN program with graduation within three years from the time of hire. + Must provide record of a completed degree, academic transcript, or record of current BSN program enrollment noting anticipated date of graduation from an accredited program, college, or university at time of hire. + Continuous re-certification and/or maintenance of state licensures, certifications, training, educational and application requirements is required during employment. + 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible clinical experience required. + 3 to 5 years of pediatric experience required. + Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities + Possesses technical and professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice. + Must possess technical and professional knowledge and skills of clinical operations in a relevant area. + Possesses the ability to understand and follow instructions relating to basic patient care. + Highly motivated, enthusiastic team player who takes initiative. + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. + Excellent time management skills, able to shift priorities and able to work independently and problem solve in a fast paced, fluid environment. + Possesses strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills as well as, the ability to interact with and build collegial relationships with diverse individuals. + Ability to travel required. + Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities + Proficiency and technical aptitude with the use of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
