RN Educator

Buffalo Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is actively seeking an experienced RN Educator to work Full-time for our Skilled Nursing Facility located in Buffalo, NY. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and three years of RN Educator experience in Long Term Care!

The RN Educator is responsible for overseeing educational needs (staff development / improvement), employee health and orientation processes for our healthcare facility to ensure compliance and top customer service. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. The RN Educator reports to the Director of Quality and the Director of Nursing.

Duties Include:

Lead staff development programs; by providing instruction designed in safety, body mechanics, infection control, hazardous infectious materials, etc. to meet NYSDOH & other regulatory mandatesMaintain educational practices by coaching, counseling, and may participate in the disciplinary process; planning, monitoring, and appraising job resultsMaintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.Record and document educational activity, attendance and responsesReport on active projects, reactions, and progress daily, weekly and monthlyParticipation in QAPI monthly meetings and projectsAssist Director of Quality and or Director of Nursing in planning, coordinating and implementing staff programs and services to ensure a well-educated staffMaintain appropriate records and assist in data collection for assessment and evaluation purposesConsult with and keeps Director of Quality and or Director of Nursing informed as appropriate or requiredMaintain good inter and intradepartmental relationships, interacting effectively with all internal and external customersMaintain close contact with employees off work, on disability or workman’s compensation, and their physicians to facilitate their earliest possible return to workReview incident reports, OSHA reports, involving employees injured at work & coordinate education, loss prevention program with our safety programProvide annual tuberculosis screening of volunteers; direct follow-up procedure for positive Manitou testing within the scope of practice and under the direction of Director of NursingAdminister Hep B vaccines & Mantoux (TB skin tests) to various contracted agencies and individuals per guidelines and under the direction of Director of Quality or Director of NursingPerform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Minimum 3 years experience as a Nurse Educator in Long Term CareCurrent New York State Registered Nurse (RN) LicensePrevious experience working in a long-term care settingDemonstrated ability to creatively educate and coachCPR certification required, CPR trainer certified or willing to become a trainerTraining in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practicesMust possess the ability to interact, educate, coach and communicate with a wide cross-section of individuals in a courteous, tactful and effective mannerMust possess the highest ethical standards with respect to discretion and regard for confidentialityMust possess an abiding commitment of basic ethical and legal principlesPossess knowledge of emergency preparedness, safety, fire, disaster, OSHAKnowledgeable of infection control proceduresAbility to handle required record keeping
