RN- Employee Health (Occupational Health)

Under the direction of the Employee Health Senior Manager, the RN – Employee Health provides nursing care/health education and guidelines for City of Hope employees through a program that includes pre-placement examination, infectious diseases risk assessments, surveillance of exposures, assess for and activate Emergency Medical Care, provide first aid care.  Triage employees to care for work and non-work-related injuries and illness.   Provide assistance to employees who become ill or are injured at work; campus-wide immunizations/vaccinations to prevent spread of communicable diseases; monitoring of employee health to protect patients and employees; prevent accidents and illnesses; and provide on-going health in-service.  Provide care under standing orders for screening of blood borne pathogens, and over the counter medications.  Will report injuries and illness in accordance with regulatory requirements.

 

As a successful candidate, you will:

Provides accurate, reliable, courteous and timely service to all employees.Delivers quality, safe care that is consistent with professional practice standards including the ethical framework articulated by the American Nursing Association and the mission and values of City of Hope.Coordinates health history and required testing and immunizations for new employees.Utilizes the City of Hope nursing process in clinical practice.Maintains current knowledge and awareness of organizational and regulatory standards, policies and procedures.Coordinates annual health assessments, including Tb testing as required, for existing employees.Reports and cares for blood borne pathogen exposures, including needle sticks and splashes and other work-related injuries and illnesses; completes necessary documentation in the employee medical record.Provides first aid and acts as a liaison with outside clinics for all work-related injuries and illnesses that require medical attention beyond the scope of first aid.Collaborate with Sr Disability Administrator and Leave and Disability Program Manager for occupational and non-occupational cases.Collaborates and reports injuries to Occupational Safety and Health department, managers, and Infection Prevention as required.Participates in a collaborative, empowered work environment as demonstrated through teamwork.Collaborates with internal and external partners through new program implementations and process improvement initiatives.Provides leadership and supervisory oversight to EHS staff in collaboration with Employee Health Manager.Maintains current knowledge and skills through attendance and participation in organizational and departmental meetings and continuing education activities.Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines, including adherence to the workplace Code of Conduct and Compliance Plan.  Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Additional information:

Shift: 8-hour shifts, 7:00a.m. - 3:30p.m. and/or 8:00a.m. – 4:30p.m.

Job Status:  full time, Monday - Friday

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include: 

Graduate of a licensed school of nursing Bachelor’s degree in nursing Two years of experience as a Registered NurseCurrent California RN licenseCurrent BLS certification from American Heart Association
