A caregiver in this position works 7:30am-4:00pm
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Functions as the first assistant during operative procedures under supervision of the attending physician.Reviews patients medical chart and documentation (e.g. H&P, tests/lab findings, x-ray, EKG results, consent forms). Relays pertinent information and contraindications to appropriate surgical team members.Assists the operating room team with positioning the surgical patient and setting up equipment.Performs appropriate surgical skin preparation for assigned procedure using proper aseptic techniques and associated standards of care.As needed provides operating team professional support by scrubbing into a surgery to relieve or cover a staffing absence.As needed provides nursing care to patients in perioperative, PACU, as well as OR.Practices body substances precautions according to established guidelines.Assists with transporting patients to and from surgical area.Maintains knowledge of operating room trends and advances in surgical technology. Assumes responsibility for continuing education and maintaining competency.Attends in-services, maintains CPR and BLS certifications and mandatory testing requirements.Trains other surgical team members on proper surgical techniques.Follows hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department specific competencies and requirements. Maintains applicable certification/licensure.Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Associates Degree
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
Must have five years Operating Room experience
Must have Certified Registered First Assistant ( CRNFA)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
