**Job Summary and Qualifications**
This Job Description for the Nurse Manager of the Intermediate Care Unit, Staffing Office, Onsite Administrators, and Float Pool provides criteria for evaluation of the Registered Nurse working in the Nurse Manager position. The Nurse Manager oversees the care of adolescent, adult and geriatric patients, and provides for the development and evaluation of nursing staff. Serves as a patient advocate with the health care system. The primary purpose of the Nurse Manager position is to assist and collaborate with the Director in overall daily operations and management of assigned inpatient nursing unit staffing office, administrators’ onsite, and float pool employees. The Nurse Manager is accountable and responsible to provide leadership in clinical operations, throughput, finance, human resources, and quality outcome management.
EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nursing or health related field
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN)
National certification in relevant specialty practice area and/or Administration within six months of hire.
Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
ACLS certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
EXPERIENCE
Required: Must have five years of nursing experience.
One year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities as assistant nurse manager or charge nurse
One year of experience as administrator onsite (AOS)
Preferred: One year supervisory experience of bed czars, staffing office, and onsite administrators.
Participation in the AACN Magnet accreditation application process
