In the Float Pool, you will work with diverse populations of patients in numerous units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers.
A caregiver in this position works Day/Evening/Night/Weekend, from 7:00am—7:30pm or 7:00pm—7:30am.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established healthcare organization policies, procedures, and protocols. Implements and monitors patient care plans.
Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
Monitor and document patient's condition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and/or interventions.
Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing protocol.
Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
Assess the educational needs of the patient and significant others considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
Provide teaching and educational material as appropriate.
Validate and document patient and family understanding of teaching.
Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.
Any registered nurse or advanced practice nurse must obtain a cancer specific certification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying education within the period of the facilities accreditation cycle, if they work in medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer center or cancer clinic and/or administer chemotherapy within an accredited Cleveland Clinic facility.
One year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care settings.
Will consider licensed military RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Physical Requirements:
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
