RN I/II Radiation Oncology

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing direct nursing care by applying clinical nursing knowledge and skills, and for ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. The RN will actively work with the physician on all new consults to provide extensive patient education on side effect management of Radiation. This role is responsible for scheduling weekly nurse visits with patients on treatment to access toxicities such as skin care and nutrition. Good IV skills will be required to assist in setting the patient up for simulation

Salary Range: $74,910 - $109,964 (Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.)

 

Qualifications


Education


Required: Graduate from an approved RN program.


Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.


Experience


Required: 

 

RN I Radiation Oncology - 1+ year clinical RN experience.

 

RN II Radiation Oncology - 3-5 years clinical RN experience.

 

One year of oncology and/or related experience.


Preferred: 

 

RN I Radiation Oncology - Ambulatory care experience

 

Oncology experience

 

RN II Radiation Oncology -Ambulatory care experience


License(s)


Required: Valid and current Texas RN license

 

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification


Preferred: Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification.

 

Completion of ONS Radiation Therapy Certificate Course within 6 months of employment.


Special Skills


Required: Able to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population 

 

Basic computer skills.

 

Experience with EMRs.


Preferred: Epic experience

 

Area experience

Required: Clear communication skills, both written and verbal
