Responsibilities
As our ICU Nurse at St Mary Medical Center you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury surgery or life-threatening disease.
Overview:
Our transitional or fellowship programs have been created to assist in the professional development of nurses who have more than 12 months of nursing experience, yet have not worked in acute care, have had a break from acute care or are seeking to change specialties in nursing.
These Transition program will consist of:
12-24 weeks of classroom and online educational presentations. Must be available to attend all scheduled dates during the orientation weeks.Initial follow-up competency validation and development plansClinical rotation under the supervision of qualified preceptorsOngoing meetings with the clinical educator, preceptor and others to assure progression and advancement on the continuum from novice to competent performance.At the completion of the program, the participants will be able to:
Successfully handle adult patient assignmentsDemonstrate a complete physical and psychosocial assessment on a patientTake appropriate problem-solving actions when confronted with a clinical or administrative dilemmaWork cooperatively and effectively with physicians, family members and other members of the healthcare team. Our program is facilitated by nurse experts with special emphasis on: clinical skills, critical thinking skills, leadership abilities, communication skills, patient safety, and professional career development.Qualifications
Less than 12 months experience as a ICU registered nurseCurrent California license as a Registered Nurse.Must be able to complete entire program with perfect attendance recordMust be able to work 3 days per week after completing the first 12 weeks of residencyMust be able to work or train on either night or day shifts, including holidaysMust agree to the terms and conditions of the program.Current American Heart Association BLS & ACLS*Additional certifications to be required based on department.
