**Responsibilities**
As our ICU Nurse at California Hospital Medical Center you’ll monitor patients who are critically ill and unstable following extensive injury surgery or life-threatening disease.
**Overview:**
Our **transitional or fellowship programs** have been created to assist in the professional development of nurses who have more than 12 months of nursing experience, yet have not worked in acute care, have had a break from acute care or are seeking to change specialties in nursing.
**These Transition program will consist of:**
+ 12-24 weeks of classroom and online educational presentations. Must be available to attend all scheduled dates during the orientation weeks.
+ Initial follow-up competency validation and development plans
+ Clinical rotation under the supervision of qualified preceptors
+ Ongoing meetings with the clinical educator, preceptor and others to assure progression and advancement on the continuum from novice to competent performance.
**At the completion of the program, the participants will be able to:**
+ Successfully handle adult patient assignments
+ Demonstrate a complete physical and psychosocial assessment on a patient
+ Take appropriate problem-solving actions when confronted with a clinical or administrative dilemma
+ Work cooperatively and effectively with physicians, family members and other members of the healthcare team.
+ Our program is facilitated by nurse experts with special emphasis on: clinical skills, critical thinking skills, leadership abilities, communication skills, patient safety, and professional career development.
**Qualifications**
+ Less than 12 months experience as a ICU registered nurse
+ Current California license as a Registered Nurse.
+ Must be able to complete entire program with perfect attendance record
+ Must be able to work 3 days per week after completing the first 12 weeks of residency
+ Must be able to work or train on either night or day shifts, including holidays
+ Must agree to the terms and conditions of the program.
+ Current American Heart Association BLS & ACLS
+ *Additional certifications to be required based on department.

**Pay Range**
$55.06 - $73.44 /hour
