RN-Infection Control Preventionist
Responsible for overall operations and functions of Infection Control Program which includes infection control data collection and analysis; product/procedure evaluation; consultation about infection risk, prevention and control strategies; education directed at interventions to reduce nosocomial infection risks, application of epidemiologic principles directed at improving patient outcomes; and participation in research. Works in conjunction with Employee Health Nurse, Infection Control and Safety Committees. As part of Educational Services, participates in selected educational activities-BCLS, CAP, etc. Acts within framework of RMC and Educational Services philosophies and assures compliance with local, state, and federal infection control regulations. Alabama RN license required. Prefer three years clinical experience in a hospital setting. Working knowledge of the principles and practice of infection control and applied epidemiology. Certification by the Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CIC) preferred. Excellent presentation skills and ability to exhibit poise and confidence in front of groups. Use of a personal computer and basic word processing software. Beneficial abilities include organizational skills, flexibility, ability to prioritize and being a team player. Must have BLS/CPR by the American Heart Association.
