Pay rate: $60 / hr 

The RN – Infection Control Specialist is responsible for the coordination, development, implementation, and monitoring of an infection control program and/or employee health program.  The RN – Infection Control Specialist is responsible for coordinating programs designed to detect, evaluate and minimize risks of acquired infections to patients, employees and visitors. The RN – Infection Control Specialist supports and acts as a resource to administration, medical staff, and all hospital or clinic services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Identifies and monitors specified infections and performs targeted surveillance Participates in performance improvement programs as it relates to communicable disease and evolving pathogens Ensures the surveillance, analysis and reporting of infectious diseases Designs and implements plans of actions when epidemiologically issues are identified Identifies and reports communicable diseases as required by state and local health laws and/or regulations Responsible for drafting, reviewing, and evaluating policies and procedures as they are associated with infection control Identifies, monitors and investigates outbreaks and/or exposures in facility Measures outcomes to assist in determining improvements in processes associated to the prevention of infections Recommends utilization of regulatory guidelines in order to comply with accrediting agencies such as the Joint Commission and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Participates in infection control committees and/or other committees as assigned Acts as a liaison with other departments to assist in reducing the risk of disease transmissions and improving infection control practices Coordinates and handles program development and education Participates in communicating information to all departments, as associated with infection control and prevention

Minimum Requirements:

Current licensures as a Registered Nurse in the state of assignment required Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred Three to five (3-5) years’ experience in employee health or infection control preferred Infection Control Certification preferred Knowledge of state, federal and JC regulations Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access preferred Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice  Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable Current CPR if applicable TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable  Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)  Must meet all federal, state and local requirements  Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site  Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements   Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required   Computer proficiency required  Must be at least 18 years of age
