Responsibilities
Position Summary:
In keeping with the French Hospital Medical Center health care philosophy the Registered Nurse manages quality patient care through the nursing process. Coordinates plan of care with the health care team. Assumes leadership role for unit personnel to prepare and assist them with their responsibilities. Employees are responsible for completion of unit competency assessments annual safety review CPR and renewal of license by maintaining continuing education units as required by hospital policy. Employees must successfully pass clinical math exam prior to orientation to unit. In addition to these major responsibilities the Registered Nurse may be assigned other duties.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license or interim permitEducation:Labor and Delivery: one (1) year of L&D experience or more intermediate fetal monitoring upon hire. With less than one (1) year or no L&D experience basic fetal monitoring within the orientation process.Experience:Labor and Delivery: Registered Nurse with one (1) year of Labor and Delivery experience. Registered Nurses with one (1) year of acute care work experience will be considered on an individual basisPostpartum: Registered Nurse Graduate with six (6) months to one (1) year of work experienceNew graduates without acute care experience will be considered on an individual basisDemonstrates:Ability to work within a team model of patient care deliveryProficient basic nursing skills and specialty skillsKnowledge of the nursing process and the ability to apply these principles appropriatelyA caring compassionate attitude toward others. Relates with patients/visitors empathetically and tactfullyAbility to organize and prioritize work efficientlyClear effective written and oral English skills and objective active-listening skillsAbility to delegate appropriate patient care tasks duties etc. to other team membersAbility and willingness to actively participate in process improvement activitiesExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with others across all departments. Reacts calmly and efficiently in emergenciesCollaborates and provides leadership with patient-care team. Maintains effective relationships with coworkers and medical staffRequired certifications through the American Heart Associationa (AHA):Labor and Delivery: Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)Postpartum: BLS NRP
