Position Purpose:

Provides support in the medical field by performing various medical and clerical activities to assure quality care and a more efficient workplace.

What you will Do:

Escorts patient to exam room.  Obtains and documents data to include but not limited to chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, pain level, medication history, and fall risk.  Obtains and reviews basic health history information.  Anticipates and prepares exam room with equipment and supplies required for the visit.  Assists with exams/procedures as requested. 

Utilizes written Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa policies/procedures and universal precautions when performing lab/diagnostic tests or procedures.  Reports and documents all critical lab/diagnostic test values to provider.  Performs, maintains and documents quality controls as applicable/requested, i.e., logs, proficiency tests, maintenance records, etc.

Assists in scheduling patients for office appointments, lab/diagnostic tests/referrals.  Reviews written test preparation handout with patient and documents in medical record.  Refers patient to provider/registered nurse if patient education is required. 

Hours/Schedule:

Full time; Monday-Friday, No weekends

Clinic Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Purpose:

The Clinic Registered Nurse is responsible for managing nursing care essential to the assessment, promotion, maintenance, and restoration of patient's health and wellness within their scope of practice. The Clinic Registered Nurse will direct and support nursing/clinical personnel providing patient care within the facility as assigned by the Clinic Manager. This includes the evaluation, revision, and implementation of clinical policies and procedures related to the delivery of safe and efficient quality nursing care, maintenance of clinical staff personnel and education records, in-services and performs Clinical Staff functions.

What you Will Do:

Demonstrates customer service to others as a number one priority and accomplishes this by integrating Service Excellence into all aspects of the workday, taking responsibility for service recovery and working for outcomes that delight the customer.

Evaluates patient/family response to nursing interventions. Acts as a resource for the nursing interventions. Acts as a resource for the nursing process to other clinical nurses.

Assesses patients and identifies common physical and psychosocial needs. Develops ability to identify unusual, complex physical and psychosocial needs.

Guides and directs patient care activities for above indicated population, by utilizing clinical/critical thinking skills and evidence-based practice. Triages patient phone calls and assesses for level of care needed, referring to physicians or providing nursing intervention as assessment indicates.

Assists the physicians/midlevel provider in patient care activities (consultations, exams, procedures, follow-ups, treatments.)

Serves as an educator to patients and families regarding management of parental and

oral antineoplastic therapy administration, safe-handling, medical adherence, and side-effect management of said therapy.

Collaborates with members of the inter-disciplinary health care team to achieve desired patient care outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

Current RN license in the state of Iowa.

Associate Degree in Nursing or graduate from an RN program required

Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

Must provide proof of Mandatory Reporting for Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training prior to employment or within 6 months of hire and maintain current status per State of Iowa guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

LPN

Education:

1. Graduate of a school of nursing is required.

2. A current Iowa License as a Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse is required.

Experience: 

1. Six months previous ambulatory care experience is preferred.

2. Additional experience involving computerized data equipment is preferred

Medical Assistant

Education:

1. Graduate of an approved school for medical assistant required.

2. Credentialed as a medical assistant is required (CMA, RMA, NCMA). CCMA certification is accepted with successful completion of a training program

Experience:

1. A minimum of six months work experience in a health care facility performing duties relating to patient care is preferred.

2. Additional experience involving computer knowledge.
