Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office is the oncology service line for Banner Research. The department operates in Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center and Banner Gateway Medical Center. The department conducts Phases I-III treatment clinical trials covering all disease groups with the goal to provide support to the physician investigators and to provide trial treatment options to the patients in a safe and ethical manner, while ensuring compliance to the FDA and institutional regulations.

As a RN Manager Patient Navigation , you'll oversee a team of 8 RN Patient Navigators. You'll also manage the team's performance, training, and budget allocation. Our team ensures they effectively assist patients in navigating the healthcare system by coordinating appointments with the correct oncology provider, provide information on treatment options, connecting patients to necessary resources, and monitor overall patient experience. Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center Located in Gilbert, Ariz. (the Phoenix Metro area) on the Banner Gateway Campus, the center provides world-class care for oncology patients - both inpatient and outpatient - and has also brought leading oncology programs to the Banner Gateway campus including designation as a Stem Cell Transplant Center of Excellence and comprehensive Head & Neck cancer care. Our capabilities include five linear accelerator vaults, a brachytherapy vault, an advanced diagnostic imaging suite with PET/CT scan, more than 70 infusion bays, a cryopreservation lab and much more. Our inpatient medical oncology unit also incorporates a program that utilizes the electronic surveillance partnership in caring for the patient, where remote nurses have the ability to interact with patients via two-way audio-video to assist the bedside nurse with patient care.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides comprehensive care coordination for the initial patient access process to ensure appropriate care alignment and a smooth and supportive patient experience. This position collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure timely diagnosis and treatment to optimize patient outcomes. This position manages the daily operations of key support services that ensure delivery of high-quality cost effective and excellent customer service to all patients and health care staff. Responsible for conflict resolution and the development of efficient processes and procedures. Identifies quality improvement opportunities and takes appropriate action. Plans and provides operational, financial, and/or managerial support within the department. This position manages employees and is responsible for selection, orientation, training, evaluation and staff scheduling.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Supervises the daily activities and operations of non-exempt, exempt and/or technical staff. Provides training and development for staff.

2. Improves efficiency and accomplishes operational objectives. Identifies and resolves tactical problems. Resolves basic to moderately complex customer complaints or problems.

3. Accountable for the daily performance of a unit. Makes decisions – guided by policies, procedures and own business plan – that impact the efficiency and effectiveness of own unit and other units with interrelated processes. Works within budgetary/financial objectives set by manager.

4. Interacts primarily with direct reports, supervisor, internal customers, peer managers, patients and physicians.

5. This position facilitates smooth coordination of care to ensure patient care needs are met while maintaining quality standards in a financially responsible manner. Performs work with minimal supervision. Assures efficient operations to meet customer needs. Internal customers include physicians, staff, and management. External customers include patients, families, and surrounding community. Works independently under general supervision. The position’s customers are internal and external – Internal: Department Directors and other managers and staff involved with assigned program(s); External: patient, patient’s family and/or support system, physicians, physician offices, and, in general, anyone who might refer a patient to the assigned program(s). This position requires making decisions related to patient care coordination throughout various specialty practices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a strong knowledge and understanding of clinical care and operations as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor’s degree in nursing, business, health care or related field.

Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

Requires knowledge as typically obtained through a minimum of three years of current oncology experience in clinical setting. The work requires a high degree of organization, the ability to manage time and resources effectively, and the self-starter ability to work independently to achieve goals. Effective negotiation, conflict management, customer service and interpersonal relations skills are necessary. The ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing and through common computer software is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Management or supervisory experience preferred.

Experience in disease site specialty that role is supporting operationally.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
