Responsibilities

The Med Surg RN is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients admitted with nonsurgical (medical) and surgical conditionscommunicate with physician about changes in the patients’ clinical condition, including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatologyexcellent observation and assessment skillsrespond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatmentskilled in recording symptoms, reactions, and progressadminister medical treatments and examinationsdevelop, plan, implement, evaluate, document, and manage nursing caredirect and guide the activities of other nursing personnel, while maintaining standards of care within the Medical/Surgical unitwork to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illnesshealth educators for patients, families, and communities Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
4. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
5. Ventilator Management experience preferred.
6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
