South Pointe's Medical Surgical 9 is a 16-bed unit that provides a wide range of surgical and post-surgical services for adult patients. Most of the patients are having elective surgeries. Our diverse patient population ensures nursing staff members gain a wide variety of surgical and post-surgical patient care experiences. Nurses who thrive in our unit demonstrate a strong work ethic and exhibit excellent critical thinking and assessment skills, which are needed to monitor patients during their admission. **A caregiver in this position works rotating shifts, 7:00PM - 7:30AM and 7:00AM - 7:30PM** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide direct nursing care. + Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans. + Monitor, record, document and communicate patients' conditions. + Administer prescribed medications and treatments. + Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. + Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs. + Educate patients and their families. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. + Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). + One-year of current acute care RN experience. Will consider military RN experience. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN).
