RN Nursing Administrative Supervisor

*POSITION SUMMARY*
To be fully engaged in providing superior quality, competitive value, and outstanding service by serving as a resource to all associates and provides general supervisory and administrative assistance for hospital-wide management and decision-making in the absence of administrative personnel. Assuming a leadership role in emergent and/or disaster situations, the Nursing Administrative Supervisor enhances communication and interaction of the various units and ensures appropriate, safe, and timely problem-solving interventions on all shifts to provide continuity of service and optimum patient-centered care. Provides direction to other individuals, including problem solving assistance while overseeing daily operations across the organization.
*PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES*
1. Maintains professionalism and positive customer relations in all circumstances possessing integrity, focus, commitment, flexibility, diplomacy, and team spirit as a representative of administration.
2. Demonstrates knowledge and working expertise to ensure compliance with all relevant policies, standards and regulations including but not limited to medical staff by-laws, risk management, and administrative (i.e., substance abuse, employee/visitor/patient injuries, disaster situations, infection control, etc.) as appropriate and communicates closely with the command center.
3. Effectively utilizes hospital computer systems (Teletracking, SCM, Hospital IQ, TelMedIQ) to identify opportunities for improving throughput and promoting efficient patient centered care.
4. Oversees ADT procedures of the facility to ensure accurate, safe, and timely patient placement utilizing the hospital’s bed tracking system.
5. Works with bed control to establish plans for placement on all admission and transfers concurrently and prospectively; performs as clinical liaison in support of the Transfer Center.
6. Works in conjunction with Centralized Resource Team and staffing office to coordinate staffing resources with patient care needs to ensure cost effective hospital operations.
7. Identifies system issues within the organization based on data and collaborates with department leaders in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve operational efficiencies in the hospital.
8. Assesses the overall status of the hospital, including calculation and execution of capacity trigger plans, and effectively prioritizes and escalates complex situations to directors, VPs, risk management, administration, and AOC as appropriate and attends daily safety and capacity huddles.
9. Leads the development, implementation, and continual improvement of patient flow by escalating barriers and actively participating on committees and in quality improvement activities, striving to achieve organization benchmarks for throughput.
10. Creates bed capacity for incoming patients by facilitating interdisciplinary meetings and rounds to identify patients appropriate for discharge and escalates barriers to decrease length of stay and optimize financial stewardship.
11. Arranges for patients or visitors to receive special services during off hours including, but not limited to facility support, clergy support, community resources, and interpreter services.
12. Provides service recovery and appropriate support to patients, families, clinical and non-clinical staff during off hours.
13. Responds to Code Blue, Rapid Responses, and all other emergency alerts to provide direction, support, and assistance as necessary.
*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS *
* Education: Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
o BSN required OR Conditional and time limited waiver for BSN requirement may apply to internal associates who complete their BSN within 3 years of transition to new role,
o OR external candidates may apply who are currently enrolled in a BSN program to complete within 3 years of hire.
* Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years nursing in acute hospital setting is required. Leadership experience preferred (i.e. clinical charge nurse, ANM, NM).
* Licensure: Current RN license to practice in the state of Florida.
* Certification: Must hold current American Heart Association ACLS and BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain.
* Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
o Effective leadership ability and management skills.
o Exceptional customer service skills.
o Proven ability to establish priorities, preferably as relates to patient bed assignment or other scarce resources.
o In-depth knowledge of the acute hospital environment and ability to establish effective working relationships.
o Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact, motivate, and communicate with a wide range of staff and hospital personnel in a professional manner.
o Effective verbal communication and listening skills.
o Proficient in use of information technology tools and solutions
o Demonstrated elevated level of initiative and self-direction, flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
o Demonstrated strong negotiation and conflict management skills.

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*
* Physically agile; may require walking, standing running, bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing or crouching frequently.
* Medium work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, with or without assistance.
* May require moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces, including reaching out and above shoulders or overhead.
* May lift, turn, pull, push, or ambulate people and/or equipment with or without assistance up to 90% of the assigned shift.
* May be exposed to inside and outside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to loud noise.
* May require working with biohazards such as blood/body fluids and airborne particles following OSHA and CDC Guidelines.
* Communicating with others to exchange information.
* Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
* Workspace may vary from open to confined, on site or remote.
* Required travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter for Health First, including centralized patient logistics and all four Health First hospitals; requires use of personal vehicle.
* This position requires taking call within the scope of the above defined role to support throughput for the organization.
