The Oncology Registered Nurse evaluates, plans, implementsand documents nursing care for the oncology patient population. The OncologyRegistered Nurse works in hospitals and outpatient care centers where patientsreceive cancer treatments. In hospitalsettings, the Oncology Registered Nurse assists with surgery prep, patienteducation and coordination of their cancer treatments. In outpatient care center settings, theOncology Registered Nurse typically helps with treatments such as chemotherapyand infusions while monitoring patients’ vitals, side effects, and pain.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides specialized oncology nursing care to patients in ahospital or clinic setting Observes and assesses chemotherapy patients’ conditions Assures patient safety and stability; reports significantchanges to supervisor or physician; records nursing notes on patient chart Interviews and observes patients medical history and currentcondition; reviews patients’ records; takes vital signs and assesses currentcondition and pain level Administers chemotherapy, blood products, IV fluids andmedications Validates chemotherapy doses for accuracy Identifies patient needs and healthcare problems; developsgoals, service delivery protocols, and nursing plan of care; evaluates patientprogress and modifies care plans as needed Records and reports all information within scope and perfacility protocol Performs assessment of patients; evaluates symptoms and determinesessential care required Prepares patients for physician’s examination, assists inexamination and treatment of patient Educates patients and families about cancer diagnosis, prognosisand treatment options Instructs individual patients and family on follow-up care,toxicity and side effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy Assists in assessment of pain management Performs other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:
Current RN license in state practicing One (1) year of experience in oncology nursing preferred Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable Current CPR if applicable TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation) Must meet all federal, state and local requirements Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required Computer proficiency required Must be at least 18 years of age Description: 16 week option!**Must have chemo experience**

Weekend REQ: Every other weekend
Certs REQ: ONS chemotherapy (can obtain after starting), BLS
Is on-call REQ? No but may be placed on call occasionally for scheduled shifts if over (highly unlikely)
Will clinician float within scope to meet facility needs? Yes
Open to accommodating block schedule? Yes when allows
Locals accepted: 65 mile rad
Pending License accepted? N
RTO Restrictions: must work weeks of holidays and fall break at minimum 2 shifts
Guaranteed Hours: would like someone at 48 hrs
