Our Emergency Department at Banner Baywood Medical Center is a very busy 68 bed Level III Trauma Center.  We are a Certified Center of Excellence for Stroke, Chest Pain, Fractured Hip, and Pediatrics.  We care for both adult and pediatric patient populations. The Outpatient Observation Unit at Banner Baywood Medical Center is a 26-bed dedicated observation unit. We primarily take care of patients admitted through the Emergency Department who require further testing and/or observation to determine if inpatient criteria are met or if patient can be discharged home.  Most patients stay for less than 24 hours and are either discharged to home or admitted to an inpatient nursing unit. Our multidisciplinary teams are all dedicated to providing the highest quality of care possible to our patients.  If you are looking to work with all patients and a wide range of patient acuity level this is where you want to be.

 

The RN Operations Support Specialist coordinates the educational and on-boarding needs of the Emergency Department and Outpatient Observation at Banner Baywood Medical Center.  If you have a passion for seeing new hires and new grads have a successful on-boarding experience and engagement with their new unit, you will find this position rewarding. You work collaboratively with the nursing leadership to roll out education on new products, procedures, clinical practice changes, and education on strategic and quality initiatives.  This opportunity requires experience in Emergency Nursing in order to best meet the needs of the division. Banner Baywood Medical Center is a 342 bed hospital serving the health care needs of the dynamic and growing East Valley communities of metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona. We provide complete acute care services and outpatient services to include but not limited to cancer, stroke, women's health, rehabilitation, emergency medicine and surgery. Our Emergency Department treats a variety of ailments and offers advanced treatment areas, with 68 beds, seeing over 50,000 patients per year. POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supporting nurse leadership in the planning, development and execution of facility education for clinicians, supporting the on-boarding and orientation of newly hired registered nurses, career development and effective internal clinical communications. This role performs under the guidance and direction of the chief nursing officer or designee and serves as a liaison between all disciplines by effectively communicating, educating and problem solving. This position proactively supports the quality and continuity of services throughout the healthcare systems and assists in resolution of systems issues and enforces facility/unit/department policy/procedures and standards of care. This position coordinates oversight of quality, risk management, safety and nursing standards and is a role model and resource person for providing quality patient care and maintaining clinical competency within the facility/unit/department; collaborates with Clinical Education to coordinate and support the on-boarding and precepting of newly hired nurses (this includes supporting programs and communication within the facility); develops and coordinates system and facility initiatives to promote clinical career development and lateral nurse pathways and may lead and implement facility clinical initiatives. This position contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care; and actively participates in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes, such activities may include participating in professional organizations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess knowledge of healthcare as normally obtained through the completion of a Associates degree.

Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice. BLS certification is required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.

Requires a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting. Minimal experience, typically gained through 0-2 years relevant experience. Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelors degree is nursing preferred.

Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
