As an OR Nurse, you will have the opportunity to deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures. What You Will Do In This Role + You will provide direct nursing care and supervise non-licensed nursing staff within the RN’s scope of practice and in accordance with established policies. + You will organize, modify, evaluate, document and maintain the plan of care for surgical services patients. + You will assist in and assess Operating Room readiness: table positioning, supplies and supply availability, and equipment readiness + You will monitor treatment in the operative environment including practice of aseptic technique and maintenance of sterile fields and correction of breaks in technique for any of the team members + You will manage patient safety by implementing operative policy and procedures including patient identification, site verification, positioning and counting of sponges, instruments and sharps What Qualifications You Will Need: + ADN degree required. BSN degree preferred. + Minimum two years of previous OR experiencerequired. + Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse. Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted; Texas State RN license required 30 days after hire. + BLS from AHA or ARC + Possess the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities. + Possess the ability to deal tactfully with patients, families, physicians, and employees. + Knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures specific to operating room nursing. + Clinically proficient in operating room nursing skills, demonstrating knowledge of the development needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
