We see a wide variety of orthopedic patients such as total shoulder, knee, and hip replacements, orthopedic trauma patients, and the hip fracture population. Our coworkers work with patients that have surgical traction, Buck’s traction, external fixators, drains, immobilizers, multiple IV medications, continuous pain infusions, and remote telemetry. Orthopedics is also the only unit to care for post-surgical gastric bypasses and gastric sleeve patients. The unit will additionally admit medical surgical overflow patients, when needed, and work with NG tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, chest tubes, ostomies, wound vacs, and central lines.
