Our Orthopedic unit is a fast-paced environment that includes high acuity patients. Are you looking to increase your knowledge base? Our leadership team fosters an environment that supports learning, mentoring, and building every team member.

Patient Population: Majority of patients are elective surgery orthopedic patients, composed of hip and knee replacements as well as some shoulder replacements conducted by 5 separate surgeons. We also house all hemodynamically stable trauma patients, and the majority of all spinal surgery patients also are housed on our unit.

Patient Ratios: 1:5

Number of Beds: 24 

\n\n\n

Department Specifics: We average 3-10 elective surgery admits M-F. We have a culture of teamwork and growth. We promote our caregivers to constantly go back to school and further their career in any way they prefer. A great example of engagement and growth is the fact that our current Nurse Supervisor, started her career here as a GN. Our team is highly invested in the outcomes of our patients by helping coordinate and teach, our, weekly pre-operative class.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. 

\n

What You'll Do

\n\nYou, as an RN, will conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.\nBuilding relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families.\nCreating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues.\nYou will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.\nWork with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.\nYou'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.\nAchieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment.\n\n

What Will Make You Successful In The Role

\n\nA deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.\nKnow nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules.\nProficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.\nRespect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.\nExceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.\nPositive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.\nExcellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.\nBasic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.\n\n

Qualifications

\n\nGrad of an Accredited Program\nSpecialized field of study should be nursing.\nA current and valid nursing license.\nMust have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.\n
