Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse works under the direction and supervision of the Physician or patient care provider and the general direction of the Practice Manager, in accordance with the objectives, policies and procedures of Physician Care and established professional standards. Provides care to patients of all ages, newborn through geriatrics. Effectively interacts with patients and healthcare members, while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Plans, provides, and evaluates patient care as a member of the Health Care Team, strictly adhering to principals of asepsis and infection control guidelines when performing patient care. Collaborates with MD/NP in the development of the Plan of Care. Assesses individual patient and/or family learning needs and institutes teaching methods to enhance pre-illness functioning or continuation of preventive health care needs. Regularly assesses nursing care, identifies potential problems, develops nursing interventions, and directs implementation of nursing interventions to all health care team members. Performs telephone triage, elicits enough information from patients to wisely assess which of those calls need immediate attention and which can wait for an appropriate length of time. Delegates staff assignments and responsibilities effectively; Assumes responsibility for leadership position within department; identifies and appropriately uses chain of command to resolve unit, staff, and patient problems. Administers medication in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards of care. Prepares and administer medications via all acceptable routes, including appropriate documentation with knowledge of all medications administered. Correctly Identifies reactions to drugs; records and reports reactions appropriately. Maintains sample medications as per policy and procedure. Maintains and uses of log books, forms, and computer programs required in unit operations. Correctly transcribes and implements all physician orders per policy and procedure. Records all pertinent information on the patient’s medical records, according to policy and procedure in a clear, accurate and concise manner. Identifies and correlates abnormal diagnostic data with patient status, report, and record appropriately. Uses computer programs as necessary, including All MEDS, per policy and procedure. Regularly checks equipment and emergency box/cart per unit-specific policy. Maintains proper level of stock (medications/supplies) as unit requires. Utilizes proper techniques of body mechanics for patient and personal safety. Correctly identifies patient by name for all direct care, procedures, and treatments. Documents the presence of reaction or absence of known allergies per policy and procedure. Routinely provides for patient safety and maintains a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors; practices with knowledge of safety policies and procedures. Handles telephone information with courtesy, accuracy, and maintains patient confidentiality; receives information and distributes appropriately. Communicates respectfully with patients and promptly responds to patient needs or requests. Acts as a resource person for clinical and administrative problems when appropriate. Anticipates patient needs, department needs, and problems/concerns, notifies appropriate staff in an effort to enhance patient satisfaction. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as active listening skills.
Ability to create superior patient experiences while generating positive guest relations in an office setting is required. Ability to work effectively and communicate effectively in a team environment; continuously looking for solutions to improve patient care. Proficiency in medication administration and practiced phlebotomy skills. Professionalism and business acumen appropriate for working with guests, physicians, employees and volunteers. Ability to cost-effectively awareness in use of resources/suppliesEducation and Experience:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with current NYS Licensure required. Current certification in BLS. 1 year of experience in a medical office setting preferred. PC/CRT data entry experience preferred.Pay Range; $33.48-$40.18/hour
Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
