Completes comprehensive head-to-toe physical and psychosocial assessment of patients; takes or reviews nursing histories to provide a basis of development of patient care plans.Implements patient’s written care plan, evaluates patient’s response to care provided and redirects care as necessary.Demonstrates proficiency in competencies for direct patient care and technical skills.Implements and monitors appropriate nursing care plan to meet patient’s needs; identifies expected intervention, and ensures vital patient information is passed on when patient care is transferred to another nurse.Administers medications, including IV’s as prescribed by physician or directed from physician preference card. Knows the actions, indications, dosage and route of administration on drugs prior to administering to patient.Demonstrates knowledge of media legal consequences of nursing activities; interprets

       diagnostic data and practices infection control in all actions.

Participates in the health care education needs for the client and the family as appropriate.Monitors utilization of equipment, instrumentation and supplies.Maintains safe and sanitary work environment.Serves as a positive role model for nursing and para-professional personnel, fosters positive working relationships with physicians.Collaborates with hospital personnel and physicians.Participates in evaluative mechanisms to determine unit’s quality of nursing practice.Adheres to hospital policies and procedures of National Park Medical Center.
