Get to Know Your Team: Portneuf Medical Center is a nationally recognized healthcare leader with 205 beds, serving as the region's tertiary care and Level II Trauma Center, housing the Portneuf Heart and Vascular Institute, Portneuf Cancer Center, Portneuf Medical Group, and Portneuf Air Rescue. Responsibilities The Nurse Navigator functions on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate, interpreter, educator, and counselor for oncology patients. Responsible for ensuring all patients with an oncology diagnosis receive quality and comprehensive services. Coordinate patient care throughout the continuum in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Serve as a single point of contact for patients and/or family members for the purpose of effective communicating the patient’s plan of care. Serve as a clinical resource with expertise in hematology/oncology care management. Serve as a liaison throughout the facility and in the community regarding services provided for this patient population. Provide expert nursing care, which includes: direct clinical practice, consultation, education and research. Qualifications Job Requirements: Must hold or obtain current licensure as a Registered Nurse with the Idaho State Board of Nursing. Oncology Certification or Oncology Certification must be received within one year. Five or more years of clinical experience in oncology care. Must hold or obtain current BLS prior to start. Remain current with center-wide occupational education programs. Writing/editing skills necessary to produce appropriate documentation and communications. Must have an understanding of computers and applications. Comprehension of standard radiation therapy practices and documentation. Must be able to take verbal instruction and practically apply it without direct supervision. Must hold chemotherapy/biotherapy certification.
