Department: Pediatric Emergency Room

Schedule: Full Time –Nights - 36 hours per week (7P-7A)

Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's Medical Center - Temple has a 20 bed emergency room designed to address the unique needs of infants, children and adolescents. The emergency department equipped to handle all types of emergencies – from minor sprains and strains to major trauma.

\n

American College of Surgeons (ACS) Committee on Trauma has verified Baylor Scott & White McLane Children's as a Level II pediatric trauma center, making it the only pediatric trauma center between Dallas and Austin and the only Pediatric Hospital for Baylor Scott and White.  McLane Children’s is also a Magnet designated facility and you are able to obtain TNCC and ENPC certifications during the first year as well as triage trained within the first 2 years.

Job Summary

As a Registered Nurse, will oversee patient care provided by the healthcare team using a professional practice model. Your responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. 

\n

What You'll Do

\n\nYou, as an RN, will conduct detailed clinical assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes.\nBuilding relationships, managing discomfort, staying professional are vital in therapeutic connections with patients and families.\nCreating care plans reflecting values aids in resolving issues.\nYou will help educate patients, families, nurses, and community members to empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly.\nWork with colleagues and community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly.\nYou'll use different strategies for problem-solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery.\nAchieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth. Contribute to peers' development, show community service commitment.\n\n

What Will Make You Successful In The Role

\n\nA deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures.\nKnow nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Understand hospital procedures and rules.\nProficiency in medical terms, focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common meds, and their side effects.\nRespect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights.\nExceptional communication skills, allowing for clear expression of thoughts both verbally and in writing.\nPositive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties.\nExcellent problem-solving capabilities, driving effective critical thinking.\nBasic computer skills, encompassing areas such as Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.\n\n

Qualifications

\n\nGrad of an Accredited Program\nSpecialized field of study should be nursing.\nA current and valid nursing license.\nMust have BLS certification or get it within 30 days of starting in this role.\n
