5Park Neuroscience:
5 Park features all-private rooms with monitoring capabilities. The unit offers specialized nursing assessment and care to patients with both neurological and neurosurgical diagnoses. Typical patients include those with a diagnosis of stroke, post-op craniotomy, post-op discectomy and other back surgeries and injuries, as well as post-cerebral embolization. Unit nursing care is complemented by the expertise of the Neuroscience Nurse Clinician, who is the Stroke Coordinator as well as assists in linking the Neuro Unit with the Rehabilitation Unit while fostering a strong focus on the patient's continuum of care. Neuroscience and Medical-Surgical experience is preferred but New Graduate nurses are welcome.

1. Performs assessment/reassessment.
2. Develops plan of care utilizing appropriate evidence based standards of care.
3. Provides care consistent with policies, procedures, current evidence based professional standards of practice and Baptist Health Louisville’s nursing mission, vision, values and model of care.
4. Evaluates patient response to treatment.
5. Applies critical thinking, clinical reasoning, organizational and leadership skills.
Job Summary:
Registered nurse implements the nursing process for each assigned to his/her care regardless of age (i.e. infancy to geriatric) and is responsible for the patient’s care consistent with the Kentucky Nursing Laws and organizational policies and procedures. The registered nurse promotes positive patient outcomes and the delivery of quality patient care and initiates change through active involvement in the unit-based and hospital shared governance councils while contributing to a healthy professional practice environment.
National Professional Nursing Standards serve as guidelines for nurses as they utilize critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills and exercise appropriate nursing judgment. The registered nurse collaborates with the inter-professional team to enhance patient outcomes. The registered nurse serves as a role model through actively participating in the process of continuous professional development and lifelong learning. Utilizes the Nursing Process as the framework for providing care.
Minimum Education, Training, and Experience:
1. Active Kentucky License
2. BSN required except as noted:
Individuals hired as a Staff RN prior to October 1, 2013 are grandfathered and exempt.Individuals actively employed by the system prior to October 1, 2013 are eligible for hire as a new graduate nurse without a BSN provided they enroll within 1 year of transfer and complete their BSN within 5 years of hire.Experienced RNs hired after October 1, 2013 who do not hold a BSN may only be hired with the approval of the CNO and/or applicable Vice President provided the RN enrolls in a BSN program within 1 year of hire and completes the BSN within 5 years of hire.3. BCLS Required
