RNs in Perioperative Services play a critical role in the overall functioning of the department. In this role, you will utilize your nursing skills to enhance the patient experiences, improve care plans and work with the patient and their families to ensure their needs are met. Your efforts will help facilitate an efficient OR workflow and prevent delays, allowing physicians and surgeons to perform procedures in a timely manner.

A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00AM - 6:30PM.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

Provide nursing care in accordance with the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice/Ohio Administrative Code and Understanding Scopes of Practice/Ohio Board of Nursing and ANA Scope and Standards of Care.  Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for a given patient population within the established standards and practices of AGMC. Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately.  Develop and update goals, involve patients and families in developing plans of care and serve as a patient advocate.  Participate in ongoing interdisciplinary evaluation of patient/family outcomes, contribute to the improvement of care and participate in the quality improvement process. Delegate tasks/assignments, serve as a resource person, pursue ongoing education and specialty certifications, maintain applicable certification/licensure and obtain any required certifications specific to the unit. Review patient medical charts, verify all required test results and complete nursing documentation in preparation for surgical proceduresEducate patients and family members.Collaborate and communicate with the healthcare team and provide hand-off reports at each change of caregiver.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Graduate from an accredited school of Professional NursingCurrent state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)Completion of AGMC and RN PSU orientation programs

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
