Position Details:
Contract Length: 13 weeks (+ability toextend)
Number of Openings: 2
Start Date: 1/6, 1/27, 2/10, 2/24
Hours/Shifts/Schedules: 36 (3x12's) /Nights / 7:30p-8a
*Willwork every OTHER weekend/major holiday
Setting:
+ Neuro PCU/Stepdown unit
Position Requirements:
+ Minimum 1 year of recent RN PCU and/or Stepdown experience
+ At least 6 months of dedicated Neuro experience
+ Proficient with lab draws
+ EPIC experience highly preferred
+ VA RN or Compact RN license
+ BLS and ACLS (AHA), NIHSS

TheProgressive Care Unit RN, as a professional practitioner, assumes theresponsibility and accountability for delivering patient care totelemetry/progressive care patients. The Progressive Care Unit RN demonstratesthe ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient mannerwith supervision. This individual employs critical thinking and performanceability in the coordinator of patient care, consistently performs according tonursing standards, and is accountable in managing patient care and assistingothers in the management of patient care. The Progressive Care Unit RN issometimes also called a step-down nurse, cardiac stepdown, neuro stepdown,surgical stepdown and in some medical centers, the PCU is also known as atransition or intermedia unit.
Essential Duties andResponsibilities:
+ Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care on a progressive care unit
+ Performs focused interviews to identify specific patients' needs
+ Assesses signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition
+ Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential nursing diagnoses
+ Documents the patient’s plan of care using identified nursing diagnoses, expected patient outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
+ Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient care requirements
+ Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard
+ Provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient environment
+ Initiates and evaluates patient and/or family education
+ Revises the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, effective/ineffective nursing interventions
+ Documents patient’s response to nursing and other interventions
+ Uses clinical judgment in evaluation activities to meet patient care needs of an assigned unit/floor including establishing priorities
+ Monitors safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment
Minimum Requirements:
+ Current Registered Nurse License for the state in which the nurse practices
+ One year prior professional nursing experience preferred with one year progressive care unit experience preferred
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
+ Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
+ Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
+ Computer proficiency required
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
