GENERAL OVERVIEW:
Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of the healthcare organization.
2-West is a 40 bed medical surgical telemetry unit within Canonsburg Hospital. Canonsburg is a community hospital with a family feel. Our staff function as a core member of the team helping to drive the care of the patient. We care for a wide variety of patient’s on our unit. Our medical patient population ranges from congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and other general medical diagnosis. We care for patients on telemetry diagnosed with chest pain and cardiac arrhythmias. Our surgical patient population consists of urological, abdominal, and orthopedic surgical patients. Our team is made up of nurses, nursing assistants, monitor technicians, and unit secretaries as well as complemented by other specialty disciplines such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech and more.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilizes the nursing process in providing and coordinating the plan of patient care for the age appropriate population. (30%)Initiates, monitors and revises interdisciplinary plan of care based on assessment findings and physician orders for the age appropriate population. (20%)Completes patient documentation in a comprehensive manner in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements that promotes interdisciplinary communication. (25%)Provides ongoing and appropriate teaching to patients and families to effectively guide them across the continuum of care. (20%)Supports the development of students, new staff and colleagues, may serve as a preceptor. (5%)Performs other duties as assigned or required.QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum
