Position Description:
The RN School Nurse identifies, evaluates and treats student health disorders and provides disease prevention and health-related instruction to students and school personnel. The RN School Nurse also refers students to the appropriate school contacts/resources, as needed, for additional services and support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Responsible for providing professional, medical treatment to studentsResponsible for early detection of student physical problems and for completing student health evaluationsCoordinates vision, hearing, and orthopedic screening and health assessmentsResponsible for providing, or assisting teachers with providing disease prevention, nutrition and general health educationAssists school personnel with the promotion of health education and immunization programs Designs and implements student Individualized Health Plans (IHPs)Provides, and/or oversees, student medication administration and medical treatments as required by student’s IHPMaintains clinical recordsProvides emergency aid to students and school staffConsults with, conducts in-service training for, and serves as a resource person for school staffParticipates in the implementation of health instruction/curriculumCounsels & assists students and parents in health-related adjustmentsPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum Requirements:Graduate of an accredited school of nursing preferredCurrently licensed as a Registered Nurse in specific state requiredTwo years of successful experience as a school nurse preferredValid CPR certification requiredSuccessful completion of Maxim Orientation and Compliance training, and all other assigned trainings as applicable requiredSuccessful completion of Maxim’s Competency Program requiredSuccessful completion of training, testing, and/or additional requirements as stated by contract requiredExcellent Communication skillsProficiency in the English language requiredCurrent Health Certificate (per facility contract or state regulation) requiredMust meet all federal, state, local, and contract requirementsTechnological proficiency including mobile devices for documentation Must be at least 18 years of ageCompliance & Ethics Expectations:Participates in successfully completes the Company’s Compliance program requirements and adheres to the Code of Conduct, Company policies, and applicable federal and state requirementsSets an example for other employees regarding how the Company’s Code of Conduct and Compliance Program is applied and observed every day when interacting with customers, business operations, or other team membersReports potential violations of Company policy, Code of Conduct, and/or applicable laws and regulations to the Company hotline, through the chain of command, to the Compliance and Ethics Department, or through other channels made available by the Company for reporting potential violationsPromotes an environment in which other employees are encouraged to report potential compliance violationsAs appropriate, provides input and suggestions regarding how policies, procedures, workflows, and/or controls can be improved to enhance compliance
