Job Title: RN Supervisor 12 hours shift/ weekends
Reports To: Director of Nursing
Status: Non-Exempt
Positions Summary:
The RN Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of the facility for the evening or night shift. This responsibility includes staff management and the quality of resident care and services. Responsibilities also include staff assignments, planning, direct care and communication with families and physicians.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and direction for the delivery of nursing care by Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Nursing Assistants, Nursing Assistants for their assigned shift.
Demonstrates the ability to utilize effective communications in interpersonal techniques/strategies with healthcare team members in dealing with issues concerning staff performance, patient care and family concerns.
Ensures compliance with applicable State and Federal standards and regulations for long-term care and initiates action plans to correct deficiencies in advance of the annual inspections by the PA Dept of Health.
Ensures that individual care plans are instituted and updated according to regulatory requirements through observation and report from charge nurse.
Develops CNA work assignments and staffing schedules to ensure staffing levels are adequate to provide a high level of care.
Effectively collaborates with medical staff as needed.
Develops preliminary and comprehensive assessments as well as written care plans.
Effectively confronts healthcare team members with issues concerning resident care and family concerns and offers constructive alternatives to affect positive outcomes and resolutions.
Maintains continuity of nursing care during shift transitions, receives and provides reports (both verbal andwritten) to nursing staff and management.
Appropriately delegates and assigns direct and indirect resident care activities to staff.
Appropriately revises assignments based on changes in resident census, acuity, and available resources.
Ensures that staff completes all assignments, promptly report changes in resident conditions, appropriately perform required documentation, and comply with all established policies and procedures of the facility and the Nursing Department.
Monitors nursing documentation on a timely basis to evaluate compliance with evaluation guidelines, noting coordination of documentation with individual plan of care and residents’ response to care.
Observes job performance of nursing staff and provides direct feedback. Documents and provides information to Nursing management related to staff’s individual job performance.
Assures that call all call bells are answered promptly, meeting all residents’ needneeds in a timely manner.
Maintains the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information in accordance with HIPAA and other federal and state regulations.
Performs all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner. Performs other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
Remains flexible and adaptable in work schedules and work assignments as defined by departmental and facility needs.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE
3-5 years’ experience in Long Term Care required.
1-3 years previous supervisory experience in long term care preferred.
Knowledge of clinical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, governmental agencies and then general public.
Must be able to effectively communicate with older adults in a manner that conveys warmth and professionalism.
LICENSURE AND/OR CERTIFICATION RN with current active license in Maryland.
