Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Surgical Services/Assistant Director/Shift Manager/Designee, the

Registered Nurse provides direct patient care to pediatric through geriatric patient populations.

Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.

The RN is responsible for monitoring the patient’s physiological status in the immediate operative period.

Communicates with the surgeon and anesthesiologist about patient conditions and receives direction for patient management.

Intercedes to maintain optimum homeostasis.

Minimum Education: ADN, BSN preferred
Minimum Experience/Skills: 5+ years of experience in a Level II Trauma OR
License/Certificates/Credentials:

Current California RN licenseCurrent BLS ACLS within nine months (within one year for new graduates) PALS within one yearTCAR required within 12 months of hire/transfer . For current employees within the department, TCAR must be obtained by October 1, 2019.

The RN provides high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to all patients. The RN assumes responsibility for overall coordination and integration of patient care based on the nursing process. The RN directs care according to established standards of safety, risk management, QI, and Infection Control, with the goal being to discharge the patient with an optimum level of care provided. Assumes responsibility for coordination and planning of patient care within the prescribed medical regime. Administers all medications safely and in a timely manner per hospital policy. Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed by the facility in times of emergency and/or disaster. Responsible for knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each, and adheres to the Hospital policies and procedures for each emergency code.     

Education:

Required: Graduated from a state approved school of nursing or an accredited school.
Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing

Experience:

Preferred: Recent acute care experience.

Certifications:

Required: Currently licensed, certified, or registered to practice profession as required by law, regulation in state of practice or policy; CPR. AHA BLS, and if applicable by corporate policy for unit of hire, AHA ACLS and/or PALS and/or NRP.
