Under the direct and immediate supervision of a surgeon, theSurgical First Assistant provides aid in exposure, hemostasis and othertechnical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation withoptimal results for the patient.  Thesurgical first assistant plays a vital role in patient care and assistingsurgeons preoperatively, intraoperatively, and postoperatively. 

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent Graduation from accredited surgical assistant program withsubsequent current certification/credential Current CPR if applicable TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable  Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)  Must meet all federal, state and local requirements  Must be at least 18 years of age
