Job Summary

\n

You'll assist the Trauma Manager, provide patient care, and maintain high standards through data registry. Collaborate with team members to ensure excellent patient care and help achieve program goals. Your role is vital for positive patient outcomes.

\n

Essential Functions of the Role

\n\nBe part of multidisciplinary trauma rounds alongside physicians, aiming to enhance patient care and spotting any quality issues.\nEducate patients, their families, and staff as required, and act as a point of connection between patients and their families.\nOversee trauma care at all stages, noting any complications, departures from care standards, mortalities, or specific hospital audit filters.\nUse electronic health record system, transfer log, and activation log to find trauma patients. Help collect data for Trauma Registry.\nCarry out concurrent reviews of patient charts and stick to departmental deadlines for review completion.\nWe need your help with Performance Improvement projects and want you involved in the American College of Surgeons.\nHelp with identifying hospital education needs. Attend Trauma courses. Opportunity to become an instructor.\nEngage in regional trauma committee programs, like the Regional Advisory Council and GETAC, as needed.\nHelp the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Physicians by identifying, developing, and presenting research initiatives.\n\n

Key Success Factors

\n\nA deep understanding of trauma care vocabulary and best practices is crucial.\nPossession of substantial knowledge and proficiency in nursing and patient care protocols and procedures is vital.\nKnowing legal rules, standards, and guidelines from certifying organizations and hospitals is crucial for every department.\nExtensive medical term knowledge is needed.\nProficiency in medication management, understanding of physical and physiological drug effects, and potential adverse reactions are essential.\nCommitment to medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights is expected.\nExcellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing for clear and effective dialogue, are needed.\nInterpersonal skills for interaction with a broad range of stakeholders are a must.\nDemonstrable critical thinking and problem-solving abilities are required.\nSkillful in understanding, optimizing, and recording complex processes.\nExpected skills include Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, electronic medical documentation, and email navigation in computers.\n\n

LOCATION:  Baylor Scott & White Health Medical Center, Grapevine, Texas

\n

SPECIALTY/DEPARTMENT:  Trauma Center

\n

SHIFT/SCHEDULE:  PRN days and/or nights, 12-hour shifts, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and/or 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m., including weekends

Qualifications

\n\nBachelor's degree\nExperience: At least (3) three years in a relevant field\nMust be a licensed Registered Nurse\nBasic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification are required before or within 30 days of starting a new job.\nTrauma Outcomes & Performance (TOPIC): TOPIC within 1 year of hire.\nEmergency Nrs Pediatric (ENPC), Pedi Adv Life Support (PALS): PALS within 30 days or ENPC within 180 days of hire.\nRN- Advanced Trauma Care (ATCN), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC): TNCC or ATCN within 180 days of hire.\n
