Join our team as a Vascular Access RN at the M Health University of Minnesota Medical Center - West Bank! This position will be working 64 hours every two weeks on the rotating day/evening shift, 8 hour shifts and every third weekend. **Responsibilities Job Description** The Vascular Access RN is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all pediatric and adult patient populations. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate. + Assesses patient for proper vascular access placement, in pediatric and adult patients and according to UMMC, Fairview selection criteria + Capable of placing complex peripheral IV lines in all patient populations. + Competent in use of Ultrasound and other technologies for IV placement + Competent in assessment and treatment of VAD sites for all complications i.e.: + Infiltration + Phlebitis + Infection + Extravasation + Thrombosis + Precipitates + Catheter malfunctions + Mal-positioned catheters + Occlusions + Can perform and act as consultant to other health care team members in coordinating nursing interventions regarding the placement, maintenance and troubleshooting of all VAD’s. + Use of tPa to de-clot CVC’s + Lab draws from CVC’s + CVC dressing changes + Port a Cath access, de-access, and trouble shooting + Discontinuation of PICC lines Required Experience + 2 years of recent vascular access experience – OR – 3 years of related nursing experience + Experience placing peripheral IV catheters + Registered Nurse + Basic Life Support License/Certification/Registration + Obtain certification from Certification from Infusion Nurses Society (INS) or Association of Vascular Access (AVA) within 2 years post hire in the department Preferred License/Certification/Registration + Certification from Infusion Nurses Society (INS) or Association of Vascular Access (AVA) **EEO Statement** EEO/AA Employer/Vet/Disabled: All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to any lawfully protected status **Benefit Overview** Fairview offers a generous benefits package, including but not limited to medical, dental, vision, PTO/vacation and Safe and Sick Time, tuition reimbursement, retirement and more!
