Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

This dedicated unit consists of 62 beds in 44 private patient rooms and is located in the East Tower. Credentialed as a Level III NICU, practicing highly technical, state-of-the-art care for high-risk premature babies and full-term newborns in need of specialized care. Nurses work with neonatologists, cardiologists, surgeons and other medical specialties as a team approach to care and provide the best care for infants.

Essential Functions:
As an RN with us, you will provide individualized, high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages. Utilizing a team approach, you will delegate and coordinate patient care at admission, transfer, and discharge.
Expectations:
Assesses, plans, and implements nursing care while ensuring patient comfort.
Continues to evaluate assigned patients and provides ongoing treatment.
Anticipates, identifies, and responds to the educational and emotional needs of patients and families.
Guides and directs healthcare personnel (i.e., Patient Care Technicians) in caring for patients.
Initiates emergency support measures (i.e., cardiopulmonary resuscitation, protecting patient from injury, etc.).
Serves in a charge/leadership role based on skill and unit needs.
Provides orientation/education for staff, students, and other hospital and community organizations as requested
Minimum QualificationsPossession of a current or compact state licensure as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of IowaProof of completion of Mandatory Reporter – Child and/or Dependent Adult Abuse training within three (3) months of hire.American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certified within six (6) weeks of hire.Our Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion
