Positions Summary: 

 

The RN Weekend Supervisor is responsible for the overall management of the facility for the 12 Hour shift. This responsibility includes staff management and the quality of resident care and services. Responsibilities also include staff assignments, planning, direct care and communication with families and physicians. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

 

Provides leadership and direction for the delivery of nursing care by Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), Nursing Assistants for their assigned shift. 

 

Demonstrates the ability to utilize effective communications in interpersonal techniques/strategies with healthcare team members in dealing with issues concerning staff performance, patient care and family concerns. 

Ensures compliance with applicable State and Federal standards and regulations for long-term care and initiates action plans to correct deficiencies in advance of the annual inspections by the DE Dept of Health. 

Ensures that individual care plans are instituted and updated according to regulatory requirements through observation and report from charge nurse. 

Develops CNA work assignments and staffing schedules to ensure staffing levels are adequate to provide a high level of care. 

Effectively confronts healthcare team members with issues concerning resident care and family concerns and offers constructive alternatives to affect positive outcomes and resolutions. 

Maintains continuity of nursing care during shift transitions, receives and provides reports (both verbal and written) to nursing staff and management. 

Appropriately delegates and assigns direct and indirect resident care activities to staff. Appropriately revises assignments based on changes in resident census, acuity, and available resources. 

Ensures that staff completes all assignments, promptly report changes in resident conditions, appropriately perform required documentation, and comply with all established policies and procedures of the facility and the Nursing Department. 

Monitors nursing documentation on a timely basis to evaluate compliance with evaluation guidelines, noting coordination of documentation with individual plan of care and residents’ response to care. 

Requirements:

 

Must possess a current and active license in good standing to practice as an RN in the applicable state Must maintain current CPR certification. Previous experience in a hospital, long-term care or healthcare related facility Must be knowledgeable of general, rehabilitative and restorative nursing and medical practices, procedures, laws regulations and guidelines governing long-term care facilities
