Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren on a full-time basis.
The Role
As a Robotic Deployment Technical Program Manager, you will oversee the deployment of automated material delivery systems across GM Assembly Plants, including both Greenfield and Brownfield sites. Your responsibilities include planning site deployments, serving as the primary on-site contact, and tracking progress on deliverables, budget, scope, and vendor performance. You will assess risks, develop mitigation plans, troubleshoot technical challenges, and manage third-party vendors throughout the deployment process.
The ideal candidate should be proactive, with strong leadership and communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. You will identify opportunities and risks within partner teams and support hiring and development efforts as projects scale during deployment cycles.
You will also develop technical requirements, generate Statements of Requirements (SOR), analyze supplier bids, and track hardware development from concept to implementation. This role requires comfort with highly technical work scopes related to automated material delivery equipment and the ability to address project management escalations during validation and installation phases.
Project durations can range from several months to 2.5 years, with travel across North America required, up to 50% depending on the project phase and site location.
What You'll Do
Oversee Multiple Projects: Responsible for managing multiple project managers and engineers involved in deploying automated material delivery systems across GM Assembly Plants, including both Greenfield and Brownfield sites.
Site Deployment Planning: Plan site deployments and act as the single point of contact on-site, tracking deployment progress, deliverables, budget, scope, resource constraints, vendor performance, and technical challenges.
Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Assess risks and develop mitigation plans while troubleshooting technical challenges and managing third-party vendors throughout the deployment process.
Empowering Leadership and Collaborative Communication: Foster an inclusive environment by demonstrating empowering leadership and effective communication skills. Collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution and navigate challenges with confidence, creating a supportive atmosphere for all team members.
Technical Requirements Development: Build out new work scopes, develop technical requirements, generate Statements of Requirements (SOR), analyze supplier bids, and track hardware development from post-concept to implementation.
Additional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
5+ years of experience managing infrastructure projects for new site launches or existing site upgrades, from initiation to closure.
Demonstrated experience in validating and launching automated material handling equipment, with a proven track record of leading projects from concept through implementation.
Knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies, related to infrastructure (i.e. network, data center, hardware, software) and complex automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies and systems including robotics.
Experience with various scenarios of infrastructure builds, demonstrating adaptability and problem-solving skills.
What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
5+ years of project leadership experience in technical project management, including large-scale implementations.
Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and resources to achieve project goals.
Expertise in robotics, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, and warehouse environments.
Experience leading cross-functional teams and projects, with a focus on end-to-end delivery.
Knowledge of project management tools such as PPM, Clarity, MPP, or Jira.
PMP Certification, demonstrating a commitment to project management excellence.
Site launch experience with packaging and robotics automation in retail, distribution, and logistics.
