Overview Position: Roller Enrichment Academy (REA) Tutor Department:Youth and Family Education/21stCentury Community Learning Center (21stCCLC) Roller Enrichment Academy SH Elementary School Availability of Position: Immediate Schedule:Part time, 12 hrs/week, Monday-Thursday during school year, September 2023-June 2024 Reporting Relationship: Directly: YFE AdministratorIndirectly:Programs and Operations Director Salary/Grade:$15.50/hr, 73, Non-Exempt Responsibilities Position Overview: REA Tutors are responsible for creating a quality nurturing and educational program environment by demonstrating proficiency in the assigned curriculum and effectively implementing lesson plans developed by REA Teachers. REA Teachers will provide clear direction, support the tutors and observe academic instruction. The REA program will serve Steelton-Highspire Elementary School children. The REA Tutor will use the Sonday system, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Journeys, Wit and Wisdom, Saxon, EnVision and Xtra Math curriculum in addition to other enrichment curriculums. Tutors must attend all trainings and be willing to learn to assist with other assigned curriculums and implement lessons. This position is part-time employment with various hours to meet program needs for both summer and school year after school programs. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: + High School Diploma with 2 years of work-related experience in the areas of tutoring, Elementary Education and or child care; Associates’ degree or Bachelor’s degree in progress preferred. + Confidentiality in all areas, mandatory + Must possess excellent organizational and record keeping skills + Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with urban youth + Good interpersonal communication skills, strong organizational and classroom management skills + Valid CPR and First Aid Certification + Valid Driver’s License + As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter + Meets the Child Protection Clearances required by PA Act 153 to include PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check through the Department of Human Services. + Must have an understanding of and appreciation for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
