EXP’s Brampton office is currently seeking a Team Lead – Roof Consulting to join their Building Science Practice working on projects in and around the GTA and Ontario.  If you have experience in the building envelope, more specifically roofing specialization, providing consultation to new construction, restoration and condition assessment projects, you are looking to be part of a progressive and diverse group of professionals with a passion for building science and particularly Roofing, you have demonstrated strong career progression and you are ready to take the next step, we would like to meet with you. 


What a day at EXP has in store for you

Reporting to the Manager - Rehab Group, Building Science, the successful applicant will conduct business development, pursuit of opportunities, staff management, quality management, technical development, and provide project management and technical services for projects as follows:

Establish a growth target and performance for the roofing team and strategically work with the Manager of the Rehab group to maintain existing business and develop new business. Conduct business development activities including marketing the services, developing client base, and pursuing opportunities. Prepare proposals in coordination with the project managers, technical staff, marketing, admins, and other Team Leads. Manage staff including the monitoring and communication of the performance, setting up career goals and achieving career growth, mentor, coach and develop employees through daily project work.  Monitor opportunities, backlog, utilization, and workload targets and manage the Team to achieve the targeted metrics. Participate in periodic meetings for operations, quality management and technical development. Monitor and manage projects and provide technical consulting services to Clients. Communicate effectively with clients by keeping them informed of site issues impacting project quality and resolving issues quickly. Liaise with and provide technical consultation and guidance to clients and direct project teams. Review and if required conduct roof condition assessments/investigation and prepare reports. Review and, if required, lead to prepare design documents and technical specifications for roof replacement and repair projects. Conduct mock-up review and, if required, field reviews for new construction and remediation projects. Participate in/perform other technical and administrative tasks, as required. Ensure health and safety policies are adhered to. Collaborate with other Team Leads and Managers at EXP.  Participate and encourage staff in industry events, R&D and standards committee. Participate in the establishing of the quality standards and practices and manage to achieve high standards of deliverables.
Share knowledge internally and externally by way of presentations.


What your experience looks like

A minimum of 10-15 years’ experience in Roof Consultation. College/University degree in Civil Engineering / Architecture or a related field is an asset. Experience with building envelope, design, inspections, testing and restoration is an asset. Excellent business development skills and will have an entrepreneurial sense of drive to generate new business and clients. Strong organizational and time management skills as well as attention to detail. Knowledge of the existing roof construction practices is required. Familarity with past roof construction practices is an asset.  Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) products. Organized, works well under pressure and able to deal with situations with tact. Must be able to meet project deadlines. Training and experience in working from heights and suspended access equipment is required. Valid certificate of training to be maintained at all times. Knowledge in current energy requirements in building codes and energy modelling is an asset. Knowledge of high-performance building envelope assemblies is an asset. A valid driver's license and vehicle is required. Regional travel is required.
