To properly take all guests' orders, communicate them to the servers and work to expedite their service. To properly perform all control and revenue related paperwork. While no job description can possibly provide a comprehensive list of job duties, the following is a summary of the major responsibilities for the position. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Be thoroughly familiar with menus, ingredients, and methods of preparation for each dish, wine list, as well as hours of operation for all food and beverage outlets. Responsible to answer the phone within three rings. Take orders for guests. Follow prepared scenarios to encourage upselling. Provide the approximate time of delivery for the order. Prepare payment of checks. Know and adhere to all liability laws. Complete all side duties at the end of a shift. Attend all designated staff meetings and training sessions. Be pleasant, smile and greet all guests, using surnames when possible. Attend to and anticipate guests’ needs. Maintain knowledge of hotel features/services, outlets, hours of operation, etc. Practice emergency procedures in compliance with hotel/company standards; react and assist in hotel emergency situations as needed. Always be an ambassador of the hotel and the company, in and out of the workplace. Ensure by example that the Inn at Perry Cabin philosophy is known. Observe standards for the department in image, appearance, and grooming; properly represent the company and the profession to outside organizations and the community. Be knowledgeable of, implement, communicate, and comply with policies of Inn at Perry Cabin and its Hotel Human Resources Department. Maintain confidentiality and security of all guests and general hotel information. Thorough knowledge of the room layout and the property in general. Assist in other areas as needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES None Skills Ability to communicate fluently in English with hotel guests and employees. Ability to provide friendly, efficient, and courteous service to guests. Ability to work under pressure, be organized, self-motivated and work well independently and with others. Strong positive attitude and ability to initiate light conversation with guests. Knowledge of hotel property and operating hours of each guest service area. Basic knowledge of St. Michaels and surrounding areas. Knowledge of proper handling and storage of food and beverage items. Must be able to walk upstairs with trays of 40 lbs. in your hands. Must be able to carry/lift 50lbs. Ability to provide legible communication. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner. Ability to work effectively and relate well with senior management, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the hotel. Understanding of the luxury hotel environment. Additional foreign language skills a plus. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard bartending and food & beverage equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision. Must be willing to ride elevators. Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds; push and pull equipment, supplies, etc., at least 50 pounds. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure. Work Environment The work environment includes high guest contact; may involve varying conditions and circumstances with guests, staff, visitors, government agencies, etc. Qualifications JOB REQUIREMENTS Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Prior hospitality and/or food & beverage experience preferred. TIPS certification and Food Handler Certification. Ability and willingness to work a varied work schedule including weekends and holidays. Working knowledge of computers and telephone systems. Previous customer service experience preferred. Previous cashiering experience preferred. Compensation Range The compensation for this position is $16.50/Hr. - $16.50/Hr. based on qualifications and experience.
